Fragment of Jupiter's head

Head with naked right shoulder of a life-size bearded god. The broad, fleshy facial features and the anatomically perfect execution of the profile and ears denote an archaic but fairly progradite phase. The statue of Jupiter was dressed in a himation draped around the hips, the god held his right arm aloft to throw the thunderbolt; the statue was part of a group of at least ten statues with Greek gods and warriors, the group served to decorate the temple.
