Arch of Septimius Severus. Detail of the upper pediment

The Arch of Septimius Severus, stands between the Rostri and the Curia. The side arches were accessed by short flights of steps, while the central passage was perhaps traversed by a road, now disappeared, that ran at a higher level than the present one, dating from the Agustean age.
