Unfinished head of Nefertiti

Unfinished quartzite head probably depicting Queen Nefertiti, consort of Amenhotep IV/Akhenaten. The upper part of the head has a barely sketched pin, which would have supported a headdress. The face has the outline of the eyes and eyebrows marked with a dark line; other guiding lines are also traced, which must have served the sculptor in completing the bust. The features of the face are very close to those of the famous bust of Nefertiti preserved in Berlin. Both masterpieces come from the workshop of the famous sculptor Thutmose located in Tell el Amarna.
