The stele, whose function must have been that of an icon for private devotion, depicts the Amarnian royal family under the rays of Aton. Akhenaten (left) and Nefertiti (right) are seated on stools with cushions. With them are the three eldest daughters, Meritaton, Maketaton and Ankhesepaaton. Akhenaten wears the Blue Crown and a pleated skirt. In front of him is Nefertiti, wearing her characteristic crown and a long dress, on her lap are her younger daughters, the third girl is standing between her parents. The solar disc stands in the centre of the upper part of the scene and emits its rays towards the royal family, these end in the form of hands bearing the symbols was and ankh (power and life).
