Stele of Rahotep

A stele of rectangular shape with an upper part with a figurative scene and a lower part with ten lines of hieroglyphic text. The scene depicts the vizier Rahotep in an attitude of worship of the god Osiris. Rahotep is depicted with a shaven head and wearing a long robe. In his left hand he holds a fan, demonstrating his honorary title of 'fan-bearer' of the ruler. Osiris is represented in mummy form, in his hands he clutches the sceptre was and the djed pillar, on his head he has the Atef crown. Behind him is Apis, with a human body and a taurine head. In the text the deities of the Memphite necropolis are invoked for the protection of Rahotep's ka.
