Ushabty in Taharqo

The ushabty are funerary statuettes, their purpose was to replace the deceased in mainly agricultural work in the afterlife. The mummiform statuette depicts King Taharqo with his arms folded across his chest; both hands clutch a hoe and a string holding a rectangular basket. The ruler wears a bag-like headscarf. In the centre of the forehead is the uraeus. The lower space of the statue is occupied by ten lines of hieroglyphics with the ushabty formula.
