Statue of Ka'aper

Wooden statue found in Saqqara during the excavations of Mariette, also known as 'Sheikh el-Balad'. Ka'aper was a Chief Lector Priest and official in the court of Userkaf; he is depicted incedent, with his left leg forward; his arms are set apart. Ka'aper holds a staff in his left hand; his eyes, made of rock crystal and opaque quartz, are set and bordered in copper; he wears a skirt knotted at the waist.
