Statue from the valley temple of Chephren at Giza. The ruler is seated on a throne with feet in the shape of lion's paws, on the sides of which is represented the sema-taui motif (with knotted lotus and papyrus stems, symbolising the union of the two lands). Chephren wears the nemes and the shendyt skirt, on his chin is a false, fractured beard. The falcon Horo, with outstretched wings, encircles the head of the ruler as a sign of protection.
