Libyan palette. Lower fragment

The Libyan palette was found in Abydos and is dated to the Predynastic period. Only the lower part has unfortunately survived. On this side of the palette a number of animals, a falcon, a lion, a scorpion and two hawks on a stick, all carrying a pickaxe and sitting on the walls of a city. The seven cities show several squares inside, to represent buildings, and hieroglyphics. The scene probably shows the foundation of a series of cities by the pharaoh and symbolised by animals.
