Statue of a woman grinding cereals

Statuette of a woman grinding grain found inside a mastaba at Giza and part of a series of statuettes of servants representing trades. The woman is depicted kneeling and leaning forward on her outstretched arms. In her hand she holds a cylindrical stone that serves as a millstone and is depicted in the act of rolling the millstone. She wears only a short skirt. The figure shows abundant breasts and muscular arms to emphasise strength. The face shows great realism and is extremely expressive. The hair is curly and executed in detail, held in place by a ribbon.
