Treasure of Tutankhamun. Winged scarab breastplate

A breastplate in the form of a winged beetle found inside an ebony and ivory container. The beetle is placed in the centre and has two falcon wings decorated using the cloisonné technique to imitate the bird's plumage. The insect represents Khepri, symbol of the sun god, who pushes the sun disc into the sky every day, here represented on the beetle's head. At the bottom there are three vertical bars protruding from the hieroglyphic symbol neb. Thus, the entire object was conceived as a graphic representation of the ruler's name. Nebkheperure.
