In this scene a dozen or so carpenters occupy a not very large room, on one long side of which a door opens. A large white case with a lid, placed in one of the corners of the workshop, contains a series of work tools, chisels, axes and blades of various sizes. One man is sawing a board fixed to a post, others are refinishing a series of boards, others around the fire are retouching the blades of their tools.
