Troop of Nubian archers

The wooden sculptural group represents forty soldiers arranged on a single base and divided into ten rows of four archers each. That they are Nubian soldiers is shown both by the colour of their skin, painted black, and by their clothing consisting of a multicoloured loincloth with geometric motifs, they have anklets, white bands on their wigs, a thin chain around their necks, they hold their bows in their right hand and some arrows in their left; this group must have been part of the army in the pay of Prince Mesehti.
