Statue depicting the ka of Tutankhamun. It was found in the antechamber of the tomb and near the entrance to the burial chamber, facing his companion. At the time of the discovery girlande of olive and persea leaves were found nearby as offerings. Both statues have black skin to symbolise, as ka of the ruler, the rebirth and ressurection of Osiris, whose skin was believed to be black to recall the colour of the silt of the Nile. The difference between the two statues is minimal and lies in the headdresses (a nemes and a khat) and the inscriptions on the skirts. Both have a mace in their right hand and a papyrus-stemmed staff in the other. Around their necks are a gold necklace and breastplate and they also wear bracelets and anklets of gilded bronze. Amarnian influence can be seen in their prominent bellies, slender legs and pierced ears.
