Sarcophagus of Amenhotep I

The sarcophagus is not the original one, it was later used to secure the pharaoh's body; it is mummiform; the lid consists of several parts joined together by means of wooden elements and lime strips. The face is painted yellow. At the top of the wig there is a yellow vulture, on the forehead a red-blue cobra; on the chest is the goddess Nekhbet in the form of a vulture with outstretched wings; below is a column of hieroglyphics with an offering formula; under the feet is the goddess Nephty kneeling with her arms raised from which hang the ankh signs; on both sides at shoulder height is the udjat eye above a small shrine with a red door.
