Sarcophagus of Ahmose Meritamon

Possibly the daughter of Tuthmosi III. The sarcophagus is anthropomorphic. A typical example of a rishi sarcophagus, i.e. feathered (reference to the goddess Isis who with her wings envelops and protects the deceased) The lid depicts the deceased with folded arms. The face is framed by a massive wig engraved with small alveoli painted blue. concentrically banded necklace; the torso and arms are decorated with engraved alveoli motifs; in the hands a papyri-shaped sceptre, a symbol of youth and life, and in the wrists a bracelet formed by parallel engravings; the remaining part of the lid is decorated with long feathers; in the centre is the inscription with the offering formula.
