Dagger of Ahmes

The gold blade bears on both faces the king's cartouches followed on one side by a floral motif ending in a fox's head at the tip and on the other by a hunting scene. The hieroglyphics and decorative elements are engraved on two bands of niello, a black substance obtained from the fusion of lead, copper and sulphur. The handle, made of cedar wood and connected to the blade by two bull's heads in relief, is covered in gold. The pommel is formed by four female heads. The scabbard is completely without ornaments.
