In the small procession of the Martyrs we also find Saint Cecilia with the organ who is portrayed with the face of Mary Dahlgren Astor, wife of the financier William Waldorf Astor, or Saint Dorothea holding a bouquet of roses depicted with the likeness of Burne Jones' daughter Margareth. In fact, the artist, following the Renaissance tradition, portrayed characters from his own time in the guise of the saints depicted.
