Mosaic in Alexandrian style belonging to the floor of the nave of the Eastern Basilica of Qsar Lybia, ancient Neapolis. It shows the nymph Castalia, who, in order to escape Apollo, throws herself into the spring at the foot of Parnassus that takes her name. Here she is represented as the centre of the world from which the tree of life rises
