In front of this background of the Celestial City we find the classes that have historically constituted Christianity. On the left we find the ascetics, i.e. the prophetic element in the life of the Church. Among them we recognise only St Francis of Assisi, who received the stigmata. St Francis has the face of Nevin, the rector of the church.
