Doctors of the Church - detail of the apsidal mosaic

Lower part of the apsidal mosaic, where the main group in the centre consists of the most important ecclesiastical figures of the Church in the past, five fathers of the Eastern and five of the Western Church, with St. Peter in front. By the will of the church's founder, the Reverend R.J. Nevin, all the figures (except St. Paul) have the faces of patrons, religious authorities, public figures, benefactors. For example St. Augustine (the character with the book 'De Civitate Dei') has the face of the bishop of Canterbury.
