Mosaic with Lycurgus and Ambrosia

The central panel of the oecus-triclinium depicts the myth of Lycurgus and Ambrosia: Lycurgus is enveloped by the branches of the vine into which the god Dionysus has transformed the nymph Ambrosia, who thus escaped the death that Lycurgus wanted to give her with his bipen, and who now lies on the ground.
