Villa of Silin

The peristyle area is surrounded by columns on three sides and open to the sea. The ambulatories and the spaces between the columns are all decorated with mosaics. The ambulacra on all three sides feature a series of panels with geometric designs. Between the columns on the east and west sides are Nilotic scenes (of Egyptian tradition) with pygmies fighting with crocodiles, amidst plants with large flowers and water birds (ducks). It is noticeable that some pygmies wear a half amphora on their head, in the manner of a helmet.
