There were approximately one hundred and fifty small shops arranged between the Quirinal and the forum. The semicircular façade and the arrangement of the shops demonstrate the construction genius of Apollodorus of Damascus, who designed a monumental appearance for a utilitarian complex. The shops on the ground floor open directly onto the curved street, which still has its original pavement.
