El alcalde del pueblo or Cheik el Beled He was given the name 'Sheikh el-Balad by the workers of Mariette at the time of his discovery, because of his resemblance to the chief of their village. He was a Chief Lector Priest, a civil servant; he is in an unusual pose for Egyptian statuary, he is incedent with his left leg forward but, compared to other statues, has all his weight towards the back; his arms are set apart; one hand holds a reed (now replaced by a modern copy), eyes set and bordered with copper borders, rendering the line of the make-up; she has a skirt knotted at the waist; great realism, it is one of the most quoted and appreciated 5th dynasty sculptures, dignified attitude.
