Behind the façade of the great temple is the great pillared hall that measures 18 metres by 16 metres and has two rows of four pillars to which the eight colossal statues of the king are leaning, tall up to the ceiling (about 9 metres). The ruler wears the loincloth of representation, a false beard and in his hands holds the heqa sceptre and scourge. The statues on the south side wear the white crown of Upper Egypt while those on the north side wear the double crown of Upper and Lower Egypt. Each statue bears the name of the deified ruler represented as Osiris. The ceiling is decorated with images of the vulture goddess Nekhbet with outstretched wings.
