Temple of Nefertari exterior

Partial frontal view of the façade of the rock temple dedicated to Hathor and Nefertari at Abu Simbel. The three colossi on the right side of the entrance gate are visible. Inserted in niches carved into the rock are the figures of Rameses II and Nefertari. The ruler is depicted in the lateral colossi, once with the Double Crown and once with the feathered crown with sun disk, urei and ram's horns. Nefertari, in the centre, wears the Hathorica crown (with bovine horns and solar disc surmounted by two tall feathers). Some of the couple's children are depicted on a smaller scale next to their parents' legs. The lintel and the sloping buttresses separating the colossi feature hieroglyphic inscriptions with the royal titles of the rulers.
