The sky goddess Nut, depicted naked with outstretched arms and legs and her body decorated with stars devours the sun at sunset and then gives birth to it in the morning. Below her in different registers are scenes of the night and day journey of the sun boat accompanied by deities. The falcon-headed sun god is on the boat inside a chapel and accompanied by various deities. On its way the boat encounters the dangerous serpent Apopi, who aims to capsize the boat but is promptly annihilated.
