Amduat: the desert of Sokar

Amduat. Fourth hour. The sun boat, transformed into a serpent, is in a vast desert, the Land of Sokar, lord of the Rosetau and funerary form of Osiris. The desert is populated by gigantic snakes and the sun god, in the boat dragged by four gods, holds a snake to control them. A sarcophagus proceeds downwards. Another sun boat, its ends represented by a lotus flower with a human head, now has a snake inside. The last register is the beginning of the Fifth Hour, with a goddess wearing a feather on her head and raising her arms in front of the Ennead, represented by nine hieroglyphic signs meaning 'god', the first of which has a white crown with uraeus.
