Voyage of the solar boat and groups of deities with the serpent Mehen and figures of Ramesses IX

Detail of the ceiling of the corridor of the tomb of Ramesses IX. On the right and left are two processions symbolising the day and night journey of the sun boat. Accompanying the processions are a series of deities divided into groups separated by vertical lines symbolising doors. Above, a series of beds imitating lions seen from above each with three human figures, both male and female. Some are depicted in profile, others frontally and make the gesture of adoration. Some are holding children in their arms. In the centre are two large figures of the pharaoh, one with an Upper Egyptian crown, the other with a Lower Egyptian crown. Below is a representation of the Mehen, guardian serpent of the sun boat, coiling around a scroll. Towards him proceed groups of deities.
