The quartzite sarcophagus

In the foreground is the quartzite sarcophagus of the ruler. The decoration is dominated by the figures of the tutelary goddesses Isis, Nephthys, Selkis and Neith, engraved in high relief, with the traditional proportions of the pre-Amarnian period, on each side of the sarcophagus. The goddesses are depicted with their winged arms outstretched to envelop the box in a protective embrace. Each long side of the sarcophagus is decorated with a horizontal column and six verticals of deeply incised hieroglyphs, and at its western end is a wedjat eye. The east and west ends of the sarcophagus are similarly inscribed with a single horizontal band of hieroglyphs and fourteen verticals.
