Amduat. Twelfth hour First register Twelve goddesses carry on their shoulders a serpent spitting fire from its mouth, and twelve gods have their arms raised in worship. Second register Twelve gods ferry the boat of the sun. At the bottom a monstrous serpent. In front of them twelve goddesses ferry the boat through the body of the serpent. Third register A series of gods proceed towards the end of the Duat. This is represented by a semicircular wall formed of earth and stones. In the middle of it is the sun disc with the head of the 'image of Shu' with its arms spread along the rounded edge. Above his head is the scarab symbol of Khepri. At the bottom is the body of the sun god in its nocturnal phase.
