Pilgrimage and mouth opening ceremony

Upper register: outward and return pilgrimage to Abydos. Menna and Henuttawy in mummiform appearance make their way to the city sacred to Osiris by sailing down the Nile. Middle register: various stages of the Opening of the Mouth ritual performed by the priest Sem (whose images have been erased) on the mummy of the deceased. Left: a priest supports the sarcophagus, while the priest-Sem completes the ritual (here too the picture has been completely erased). Lower register: a theory of offertory bearers, men and women. They carry numerous vases, fruit, papyrus stems and lotus flowers.
