Weighing the soul of the deceased

On the right, lower register: a procession of five figures carrying food offerings towards a series of four altars from which tongues of fire are shooting out. The offerers carry fruit, duck and conical loaves, one is holding a bovine head. The figure on the right is placing the offering on the first of the four altars. Upper register: scene of 'weighing of the heart'. The large figure standing on the left in a light robe and white skirt has a chiselled face, but is recognisable as Menna. His heart is placed by Horo on one plate of the scales, while the effigy of the goddess Maat is placed on the other. Above Horo is Thot, who records the result of the ceremony. Everything takes place before Osiris, Lord of the Dead. He is represented under a canopy placed on a plinth, and seated on a throne. His complexion is green, he wears the atef crown and a blue collar. In his hand he holds a sceptre and scourge. On the left: Imentet (top) and Anubis (bottom).
