Statuary groups of the Inner Chamber (Khaemhat, Teye, Imhotep)

Two of the three groups of statues in the Inner Chamber. The statues are carved directly into the limestone in which the tomb is excavated, the figures are depicted seated within niches in the perimeter wall. The statues are damaged in several places and are covered with a black patina (the tomb was desecrated in ancient times and the patina is due to fumes from cooking fires related to the period when the tomb was used as a dwelling). On the left are Khaemhat and Teye, while on the right are Khaemhat and Imhotep (a royal scribe, possibly related to Khaemhat).
