Sennefer and Meryt under the Ished tree

Detail of one of the four pillars of the Funeral Chamber. Sennefer is seated on a stool with legs in the shape of lion paws. Around his neck he wears two heart-shaped amulets and a broad gold collar, he also has bracelets and a heavy earring of the same material. In his right hand he holds the Sekhem sceptre, in his left he holds a lotus flower which he holds to his nose. Kneeling beside him is Meryt, wearing a long wig with a diadem and a long white dress, which encircles her husband's legs. In the background is the Ished tree, symbol of eternal life. In front of the couple is a table with three vases on which lotus buds are spiralling, above these is a bouquet consisting of two buds and a lotus flower.
