Purification ceremony of Sennefer

Detail of one of the four pillars of the Funeral Chamber. In the centre is Sennefer, he is wearing a wig, gold collar, bracelets and earrings, a semi-transparent garment and skirt. Around his neck he has two heart-shaped amulets and on his chin a short square beard is visible. In his hands he clutches a staff. Four priests arranged around him are performing the ritual of purification by pouring water from Nemset vessels over the deceased. Sennefer is standing on the symbol representing the horizon, combined with the one indicating a 'celebration' (alabaster basin). The latter is repeated three times, upside down, above Sennefer's head.
