The Book of Amduat. Detail

Detail. The decorative scheme of the west wall is taken from the Book of Amduat. The upper register is occupied by the sun boat, with the sun god in the form of a scarab, Khepri, in the centre, preceded by five deities. The lower registers depict twelve baboons, symbolising the twelve hours of the night that the sun god (and the king) must pass through before being reborn at dawn.
