Book of Gates, fourth hour: In the upper register two bodies of water known as the Lake of Life, guarded by jackals, and the Lake of the Ures. In the middle register the sun boat pulled by carriers and shrines with mummies waiting to be reborn. Below is the serpent with many coils representing time, together with twelve goddesses embodying the hours. In the lower register Osiris inside a shrine is protected by Horus and other gods. The hour ends with the punishment of Osiris' enemies inside flaming pits.
