Ramose funeral procession: mourners

A group of women mourn the loss of Ramose during his funeral procession. They wear a white dress, the colour of mourning in ancient Egypt, and have their arms raised above their heads, in some cases with their palms turned towards their faces. The kneeling women are probably depicted in the act of sprinkling dust on their heads. These are typical gestures of mourning. To emphasise their grief, tears have been painted on their cheeks.
