Ramesses III and Isis

Detail. Ramesses III and his son Amonherkhepshef are greeted by the goddess Isis who holds up a hand in the direction of the king as a sign of greeting, who reciprocates in turn. Ramesses III wears a yellow headdress on his head and is dressed in a sumptuous skirt adorned with feathers and cinched at the waist by a precious belt. While the goddess wears a tight-fitting red dress and wears on her head a headdress in the form of a vulture's plumage surmounted by long bovine horns and a sun disk, the Hathoric hairstyle also assumed by Isis during the New Kingdom.
