Detail of the south side of the ceiling: Sennedjem worshipping the gods of the West and the serpent.

This detail depicts a scene from §108 of the Book of the Dead, which describes the punishment of the serpent Apophis by Seth. This explains the lateral representation of the serpent on the horizon sign. Opposite this, Sennedjem pays homage to two anonymous deities of the west sitting on the Maat sign. The first deity has the long snout of a dog, white dotted with black.
