Pilgrimage and mouth opening ceremony

Upper register: wooden boat decorated at the ends and on the rudder with lotus flower motifs. It is one of two boats on a pilgrimage to Abydos. On the deck there is a cabin on the top of which there are objects related to funerary purposes: an offering table, a funeral bed with a headrest under which are a mirror and a container of eye make-up and a fan. The crew consists of a pilot (right), six oarsmen and a helmsman. Lower registers: stages of the ceremony of the Opening of the Mouth of the Dead. All depictions of the priest-Sem have been deliberately erased from the scene.
