Ceiling of the Funeral Chamber (detail)

Detail of the ceiling of the Funeral Chamber. The ceiling of this room is characterised by different types of decoration, including plant and geometric motifs. Here, the surface is characterised by a decoration reminiscent of a carpet or fabric: the motif has a white background on which red and blue zig-zag lines run lengthwise. The latter form sequences of white and ochre rhombi, which are decorated with dots and lines. The pictorial decoration is punctuated by three ochre bands. The central band features an inscription with an invocation to Osiris. The ceiling has not been levelled and retains an irregular pattern that accentuates the undulating effect of a fabric hanging from the ceiling.
