Anubis (entrance detail)

Detail of the entrance wall of the Funeral Chamber. At the top of the door leading into the Antechamber, below two vine-shoots running horizontally on the wall, there is a double representation of the Lord of the Necropolis, Anubis, in the form of a jackal. The two jackals are facing each other and each is crouched on a pylon, representing the horizon and the passage from the world of the living to the world of the dead. Between the two pillars is an altar on which are flowers and lotus buds. Below the depiction are texts of offerings to the deities.
