Sarcophagus of Thutmosis III: Qebehsenuef, Anubis, Hapy and false eyes

The sarcophagus is located in the burial chamber and is made of red quartzite. The long sides present three deities, in this case Qebehsenuef and Hapy, the sons of Horus, placed at the corners of the deceased, and Anubis in the centre together with two false eyes generally placed near the head of the deceased so that he could look out. Underneath is a false door through which the deceased could enter and exit the sarcophagus. The yellow paint is reminiscent not only of the golden skin of the deities but also of the so-called Golden Chamber, the name generally used for the burial chamber.
