Sarcophagus of Thutmosis III: false eyes and false door

The sarcophagus is located in the burial chamber and is made of red quartzite. On one of the long sides, in the centre, are two false eyes generally placed near the head of the deceased so that he could look out. Underneath is a false door through which the deceased could enter and exit the sarcophagus. The yellow paint is reminiscent not only of the golden skin of the deities but also of the so-called Chamber of Gold, the name generally used for the burial chamber.
