Khaemhat e Teye

One of the statue groups in the Inner Chamber. The statues of Khaemhat and Teye are carved in the limestone in which the tomb is excavated. Both are damaged and covered with a black patina (the tomb was desecrated in ancient times and the patina is due to fumes from cooking fires from the period when the tomb was used as a dwelling). The statue of Khaemhat is missing about half of his face, his arms are crossed over his chest and he is wearing a wig. On the right is Teye: his face is framed by a large wig that descends to his shoulders, reaching up to the level of his breasts; his left arm is folded across his chest, in a pose typical of burials of female figures. Both present a body with mummiform features.
