Column painted with the image of Ramesses II

In antiquity, the column was part of an edifice of Thutmosi IV. Later on, Ramesses II added his image and titling to it, but without erasing the names of his predecessor. The decoration retains vivid colours: it depicts Ramesses II as he makes the offering of flowers in the temple. On the sovereign's head is depicted a falcon holding the circle-shen in its paws. Ramesses II is in ceremonial dress and wears the blue crown with the royal uraeus on his forehead.
