Detail. Ramesses III.

Detail. Ramesses III offering two jars of wine to a deity. The pharaoh wears the khat on his head, a headdress made of a cloth, usually white or yellow, gathered behind the nape of the neck in a braid. A funerary connotation of the khat is very likely due to its frequent appearance as the headdress of the ka of the ruler and of the goddesses assigned to protect the deceased king.
